This is an extremely popular Instagram trail where everyone usually comes to chase the sunrise. But we were too tired from driving the previous days and had no attachment to sunrise, so we slept in and went in the morning. If you come in winter, definitely bring trekking poles - most of it is dirt path that gets muddy in rain, and the summit area can get icy with uneven frozen ground that has poor grip. Without poles, you really might not make it down.
There’s more than one route up. We chose the ridge route for a challenge. While this path is shorter with better views, the incline is extremely steep - footholds are less than half a meter wide, and there’s real risk of falling off. Strongly advise against descending this way. Also, if you just want to take that classic Instagram shot, you don’t need to reach the summit - that spot is partway up.
