Important Rules

The 28-Day Rule

All fines must be paid within 28 days of the notice date. If you fail to pay, the fine may be referred to the court, and additional enforcement fees will be added.

Update Your Address

Whenever you move, even if you are in a temporary accommodation or van, make sure to update your address on the NZTA (Waka Kotahi) website. This ensures penalty notices reach you on time.

Rental Car Admin Fees

If you get a fine in a rental car, the rental company will charge an administration fee (usually $30-$50) just to process the fine and transfer the liability to you.

How to Pay

You can pay your fines using the following methods:

Online
Using the Ministry of Justice website (Credit/Debit card)
Internet Banking
Using the Bill Pay function
In Person
At any Westpac branch or PostShop (bring your notice)
